If You’re Gonna Blink…Just Wink

On average, a person blinks 16 times per minute, 960 times per hour and 15,360 times in a 16 hour day.

Most people I know do life at 100 miles an hour with tinted windows and the radio up so loud they can’t hear anything going on around them.

I was recently slapped upside the head with statistics that blew my mind. The average dad spends 1-30 minutes of intentional bonding time with their kids per day. Shocking news to a dad that absolutely adores his kids and never wants to miss an intentional moment with them.

If we are doing life at such high speeds we are missing those intentional moments that could watermark our kids, our marriages, our jobs, our friendships and us for life.

I get to take my little daughter (Faithlyn -4) to school and sometimes pick her up. I did today while on my cell phone and when I got back to work, it hit me. I better start taking those moments, whether it be 2 minutes or 30 minutes and be intentional (winking instead of blinking) so I don’t miss anything.

Application: Start by just intentionally thinking of how you can engage in the things that God puts in front of you so you do not miss ANYTHING!

SLOW DOWN – Psalm 46:10 says, “Slow down. Be still. And know that I am God”

REST – Psalm 23:2 “He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.”

Remember, if you are going to blink…WINK! If you don’t you are gonna miss something.
